Vernazza is the pearl of the Cinque Terre.
While Riomaggiore rests my favorite one for the amazing view, Vernazza is definitely the most splendid of all five villages. The population of Vernazza is slightly more than 1000 people.
Narrow alleys and colorfully painted houses characterize Vernazza as well as other villages. The beautiful church of Margaret of Antioch was built at the beginning of the 14th century, is standing near the Belforte Tower and the ruins of the castle that was created in the 9th century.
On the square facing the bay there are many Italian cuisine restaurants, a gorgeous waterfront piazza and a harbor with sand I would even dare to call a tiny beach.
